A FEW WORDS CAN MEAN A LOT

What to write
in a birthday card.

You don’t need a perfect speech. One birthday wish, one personal thought and your name are a lovely place to start.

  1. 01

    Choose a tone that fits.

A heartfelt wish works for someone close. A friendly, short message suits a colleague. Keep funny wishes gentle and choose a joke you know they’ll enjoy.

  2. 02

Add something only you would say.

Mention a memory, a quality you appreciate or a plan you’re looking forward to. ‘Here’s to more Sunday walks together’ says more than a long list of compliments.

  3. 03

Read it aloud. Sign it off.

If it sounds like you, it’s ready. For a milestone birthday, mention the age if they’re happy celebrating it. Copy or download your finished message before leaving.

A few things
you might be
wondering.

Small questions. Clear answers.

How does the birthday card message generator work?

Choose who the card is for and a tone, then add optional names, an age and a personal line. The tool combines original ready-written birthday wording in your browser to give you three suggestions. Edit your favourite, copy it or download it as a text file.

What should I write in a birthday card?

Start with a birthday wish, add one thing you appreciate about the person or a shared memory, and sign your name. You can keep it simple: ‘Happy birthday! So glad we’re friends. Here’s to more memories together.’

Can I make funny, heartfelt or short birthday messages?

Yes. Choose Funny for light-hearted wording, Heartfelt for a warmer message, or Short & sweet for a brief wish. Suggestions include wording for friends, Mum, Dad, partners, siblings, children and colleagues.

Can I add an age or a milestone birthday?

Yes. Add an age from 1 to 120 to mention their birthday, including milestones such as 18th, 21st, 30th, 40th or 50th. Leave the age blank if you would rather keep the message age-free.

Is this free, and does it use AI?

It is free and does not use AI or require an account. Suggestions come from an original editorial library. Names and message text stay in the composer in your browser and are not included in tool analytics. The composer does not save your draft after you leave or reload, so copy or download it first.

Can I use these birthday wishes in a card or with an HRS gift?

Yes. Copy your finished message into a birthday card, text message or gift note. If you are ordering through the HRS snack box builder, choose the printed gift message option and paste it into the message field. Creating a message here does not attach it to an order automatically.

The birthday card.
The favourite treats.

Pair your words with a snack gift they’ll look forward to.
